'Finish The Course - A Story Of The Deardens'

Ten years ago I started researching my family history. I decided to focus on my mothers side, the Dearden's since I could locate records at the local State Library myself. The story I uncovered was fascinating, and I decided to write this book.

It follows the lives of three generations.

It commences with my great great grandfather, 'John Cunliffe Dearden' who was born in Rochdale, Lancashire England on 23 June 1809. As a soldier in Her Majestys 51st Regiment, he sailed to Western Australia with his family in 1840. At that time the Swan River Colony ( later the city of Perth ) was just ten years old.

The next generation became pioneers of the outlying Waneroo district in the 1890's . It describes their trials, tribulations and scandals in the isolation of the Australian outback.

The last generation examines my grandfather and his family who lived in the suburb of Mt Lawley during the great depression and the two world wars.

The book is A4 size, 130 high quality pages and includes photographs, maps, letters and graphs. A limited number are still available for twenty dol(aus) plus postage.

It has been purchased by the State Library of Western Australia and other libraries in the city.

If you would like to order one drop me an email with your address and I'll advise how much postage is.
